This website has been a work in progress over a number of years. It
began as my personal daycare website when I was a licensed home
childcare provider. It has since evolved into a resource for childcare providers
to a resource for early childhood teachers and parents. Throughout this time
I have evolved as well...
I am a mother of three fabulous children who are now all in their
TEENS! They started me on my journey as an early
childhood educator. My interest in their development led me to
begin learning more about child development and education. Prior to
having children I had attended college as a biology major but after baby
# 3 I took some time off to be a mommy. Little did I know, my time off
would amount to approximately 12 years!
When my children were young it was my desire to be home and provide
for their care and education myself. However, income was needed!
When my oldest started kindergarten I became a licensed childcare
provider and began doing child daycare in my home. I was a provider for
about five years. During this time I attend college courses to earn a
Child Development Associates Credential (CDA).
When my youngest began first grade I took a job as the director and
head teacher of a local Christian preschool. I worked there for one
year. I was overwhelmed by the amount of work it took to teach and
direct a newly formed preschool. I soon moved on to teach in a different
local preschool where I remained for the next four years.
As I continued to work with children, my desire to further my
education grew. I returned to college in
the fall of 2005 as a Child and Family Studies (CFS) major. The program
offered extensive background in working with young children and their
families and would enable me to become licensed to teach children ages
birth through third grade.
I was hired by
a local school district in the fall of 2008!!!! I am currently a school
readiness instructor (preschool) and ECFE (Early Childhood Family
Education) teacher. I teach three sections of preschool during the day
Monday through Thursday. Then, I also teach some night parent/child
classes for ECFE and a mixed ages parent/child class on Fridays.
So about the "US"...
I want to be
able to share what I have learned with you! So enjoy the resources
provided here, I hope you find them useful!
Sincerely,
